those heathens and their macs
One of my fellow grad students is a Missionary Baptist preacher who studies Rhetoric in order to improve his sermons. We differ immensely on theological issues, but have managed to do so in a mutually respectful manner. He's a smart, funny, articulate guy, and I like him. We're in Thesis Proposal Workshop together, and his thesis will be a Bible-study text that examines the Old Testament from a historical perspective. He wants to include appendices at the end that will contain graphics for handouts and presentations.
I suggested that he include these on a disk or a website instead, and we started talking about PowerPoint, and whether or not any churches ever used it. And then I said, "Well, what about platforms? You don't want to alienate all the Mac users."
And he said, "I don't think any Christians are Mac users, anyway."

It's going to come as a great shock to Bill and Klaras, but not so much to me.

Actually, after he said that, I said "Well, I have this acquaintance at Seabury. But he's Episcopalian." And since most Baptists tend to think Episcopalians dress funny and do funny stuff and are practically Catholics, I don't think he thought that counted.
(Of course he doesn't know that when I go to church once every four years, it's to mass at Christ Episcopal. And I worked at the Catholic Diocese for two years.)

If being associated with Caatholics makes me non-Christian, I'm content to get in line. It won't be the first time!
At least no one thinks I'm a PC user. . . .

M - All of this is meant in the most lighthearted manner. I just love to needle AKMA. And I love my PC.

So we've eaten of the Apple of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, have we?
(sorry... couldn't resist it)
