brilliance, offices and Free The Mouse
In response to my plea for copyfight artifacts, the ever-helpful AKMA uploaded a shot of his Free The Mouse sticker for me. Thank you!
I must admit that in my usual voyeuristic fashion, I'm fascinated by the surrounding items on his bulletin board. Smart people's offices always intrigue me. I usually meet the person and their mind before I ever see their office, and I've never been able to correlate the two. Some people have the usual clutter and eccentric decor, but two of the more brilliant faculty members in my department keep the most immaculate, sedate offices. And then there's Johndan Johnson-Eilola, whom I've never met or corresponded with. I read his work and his blog, though, and loved this shot of his office that shows his last book mapped out in marker on the walls.
Hmmm. Maybe I'll be smarter if I write on my walls.

Comments
I find it useful to write outside of the lines or on unusual surfaces; it helps me to think differently than I might on a page or a screen. In my office are several pieces of white oak planking (scraps from a home addition project) with notes for a conference paper on them, and a chart mapping time versus space in interfaces drawn with whiteboard pens on a window. And post-its, lots of post-its.
(Now we've corresponded. (The magic of ego surfing.))
