the squirter thingie
Got the car back today. With a new squirter thingie. Cost for said thingie? 40-effing-dollars. $5 for the part. $35 for the labor. For installation of a part that snaps on. A part that, in Arkansas, they would have replaced for free.
That is all.

They probably would have replaced it for free in Missouri too.
Not too long ago I had to replace a headlamp bulb on my car. I was surprised when the parts guy said, "give me a sec and I'll put it in for you." You could have, as the saying goes, pushed me over with a feather.
This helpfulness would have never happened in Dallas, from where I recently moved. Maybe it has something to do with small towns?

It’s probably also a small town thing, but I lived in Little Rock, which likes to consider itself a city. They still did it for free, perhaps out of Southern manners. Or something like that.
