  • Turns out I’ll be presenting my recent research at two conferences this fall: the New Research for New Media Conference (Sept 15 — 16) and Originality, Imitation & Plagiarism: A Cross-Disciplinary Conference on Writing at the University of Michigan (Sept. 23 — 25). My panel for the first one isn’t announced yet, but John Logie and Jeff Ward will both be on the Michigan panel. That conference has quite the impressive speaker roster for a conference sponsored by a writing center. Whoever was in charge of inviting people did a great job; take a look at the link and see for yourself.
  • Being a grown-up is such a bother: car registration, dentist, physical therapy, tax amendments, spring cleaning.
  • Preparing for the LSAT on June 6, since several mentors have suggested that a JD would also be a good thing to have in my line of work and my funding package here would enable me to complete one for about 1/3 of the usual cost. I have no idea how far I’ll actually pursue this, but a decent test score will mean that I’m able to haul off and do something about it if I decide I want to. (Comments welcome on this topic.)
  • Roasting chicken tonight — my first attempt since the green one I turned out a couple of years ago. (I was previously a pretty adept chicken-roaster.) We hope for better results this time.
  • Making summer travel plans, sort of. Always exciting.
  • Also working on firming up my summer reading list. The Frankfurt School beckons, as do my Comps lists.
