Reminds me of my foray into late-lesbian-separatism in the early 1980s, where anything that might possibly be fun was labelled "an instrument of the patriarchy." Lipstick? IOTP! Skirts? IOTP! Monogamy? IOTP! Dildoes? Sooooo IOTP!!
Heh. Thanks, both of you. Around this house, the patriarchy accusation is a reference to an old professor of ours who is rather short in stature. (She’s also a good friend.) She was fond of telling Mister Boyfriend that no matter how liberal or feminist his views, his physical stature would always make him part of the patriarchy. I can’t resist using it every now and then when we’re kidding around.
