meetings of the pleasant sort

One of the best things about this trip was finally meeting Bobbi from reconstructed : mind. She and I had tried to figure out how to meet a couple of years ago when she was thinking she might go to Eureka Springs, AR, but that didn’t happen. Then, when Mister Husband and I were driving back and forth across the country last summer, we tried to figure out how to detour into Lawrence, KS, but it was never feasible. This summer, we went from Arkansas to Minnesota via Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, and South Dakota, and some of the reason for that was that it provided an excuse to go to Lawrence.

Bobbi was everything we hoped for and more. I’ve met enough bloggers now to form the conclusion that the blogs you like are usually written by people you’ll like (and the opposite is also true). We’ve both read her blog for years and several of her pieces have been hanging on our walls for the last year or so. She completely proved my hypothesis correct: we both adored Bobbi and her youngest daughter, Margaret, who also came to lunch with us. Margaret and I have an odd little connection, and I had wanted to meet her but thought it was too internet-stalker to ask if she wanted to come. But either her mother invited her or she invited herself, and I was so glad she came with us.

There was more to this visit, and I’ll blog it later. But in the meantime: we’re definitely planning to go through Lawrence again next summer.

Sounds like you had a great time. I took at look at Bobbi's photos, which were incredible. Next time, you'll have to pull through Nodak...I have the address of the best mushroom-swiss burger on earth. And you can fit in the Peace Gardens while you're at it.
