oh yeah

We’re in Ann Arbor right now. Decided to drive here by way of Wisconsin, Illiniois, and Indiana. Fantastic pictures that were not taken by me are here.

I haven’t seen much of Ann Arbor in the daylight, but I finally did meet Becky Howard, who is a wonderful redhead. Also heard Larry Lessig speak, and spent most of the time being impressed by his presentation of technical information for a semi-expert audience, and by his masterful use of powerpoint. I wish my Sci/Tech Presentations students had been there.

Did you also meet the brilliant young up-and-coming Big Potato Dr. Robillard? Looking forward to hearing more from all of you about the conference!

Great to meet you & Mr. Husband. A true pleasure. How did Lessig do most of the slides for that PPT? How did he get just one word to illuminate, with no background frame at all?

I’m thinking it was white text on a plain black background. I've been doing that and throwing up simple declarative sentences, which I think has a certain impact, but nothing like the single-word bursts he was using. And his use of animation was the most effective I’ve seen — that’s what I really want to show other folks.

Also, I want to marry Jessica Litman when I grow up.

Also, I tragically did not meet Dr. Robillard.
