malingerer

I told a couple of friends I couldn’t go to the Museum of Science on Saturday because I was too puny and didn’t want to infect them. I had every intention of staying inside and being sick. But then Mister Husband pointed out that we could be miserable outside just as easily as inside, and that many outdoor places around here would close on November 1, and that it would be rainy on Sunday, and that he already had the same virus I did. And so off we went to Fort Snelling. (Photos here.) Neither of us are military buffs, but it made for an interesting enough afternoon. They fired the cannon at four o'clock, and the reenactment frolks were both friendly and quite ready to be off the clock. The dust wasn’t good for the bronchii, but I spent a good amount of time being impressed with my ankle for walking on all sorts of uneven ground and going up an down narrow, 19th century-designed stairs. And I acquiesced to several silly pictures.

I’m not really a malingerer, because I wasn’t faking. This time.

If I had that sign, I'd wear it everywhere I went.
