an urge
Those of you who do work in rare book collections: Do you ever have the urge to go over to someone else who’s engaged in deep thought and go, “Whatcha doin’?” Because I'm totally curious about what the brunette with the cart marked ‘Hold for Minnesota Medieval Manuscript Laboratory’ is up to.
Not that I would. And not that I am ever distracted from my own work. Certainly not.

Didja ever get caught looking too closely at what someone else was working on? That inquisitiveness that make me a decent scholar also turns me into a snoop sometimes...

Susan: I am so incredibly happy to see that someone else does that!!! My last trip to the British Library, I couldn't help but look around at the various things people were working on and take note of the methods they used to take notes/write/think.
