fiddlehead

I took this photo months ago in the Arboretum fern room. It’s still grey and snowy here, but temperatures are up in the 30s. Folks back home are sending me photos of daffodils. The weather guy is talking about meteorological spring. Eventually some green will come.

This beautiful photo reminds me of a poem by Raymond Carver from his book At Night the Salmon Move." I don't have the book handy, but the poem refers to a fern root that dives down in one place and pops up somewhere else...it's lovely, and reminds me of the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest...*sigh*
