That is likely the unfortunate result of the Minnesota bird, the cowbird. They will deposit a white egg with brown speckles with the other egg and destroy another egg by dropping it on the ground. The unsuspecting bird who originally laid the egg then cares for the cowbird baby, which develops faster and eats more than the other nestling, often to their detriment. Awful things!!!
