sentence of the week
I just think that by the 23rd century, American men get to wear high heels and eye-liner, sit like sissies, and make pouty, kissy faces at other guys if they want--and also beat the hell out of giant killer reptiles.
From the newly-adored Gugeo, who found me via Sally, who makes the most awesome mix tapes ev0r. You know, the kind with 10 bands you love, 4 you always meant to get around to, plus 3 you never heard of — and the mix order makes all the known stuff sound new and the new stuff sound all kinds of intriguing. I’ve been listening to it all week.

I'm hoping we don't have to wait until the 23rd century!

Gugeo was JUST telling me last night how thrilled she is to have found YOUR blog. And, well, YOU, of course. Ah, feel the love ...
Also, I'm so glad you're enjoying the mix! This year's blend seems to be a big hit across the board.
An ex-friend hated getting mixes from people, as he felt it was some sort of I-know-better-than-you gesture. (He was and is a firm believer that the contents of his own head are the last great mystery of the ages. Blah blah BLAH, says I.) The experience of getting that information and energy from him made me worry that giving out music might be insulting my friends. But then I remembered that most people - myself included - don't have time to pore over endless new releases. We truly appreciate the gift of a hand-picked group of songs. Mixes are suggestions, guidance. Not condescension.

It's quite a kick to see one's words quoted in another context. Fun!
Blogging & music are my main contact with the world when the temperatures dip below zero, as today. I'm self-employed (or self-unemployed, or "sabbaticaling" depending on my mood), so I stay inside and listen to Sally's mixx and cruise y'all's writings. Thanks!

P.S. Krista--I finally read your "about me" info and want to say that *I* too am a fan of the serial comma. I feel so validated: tra la, tra la, and tra la!
