(Something silly to move that other post on down.)
Favorite food to crunch: Dill pickles. Autumn apples. Summer cucumbers.
Favorite comfort food: Loaded baked potatoes. Scalloped potatoes. Proper macaroni and cheese. (Fat + starch = happy.)
Favorite picnic lunch: Homemade fried chicken, potato salad, pickles.
Favorite food scene in movie: It would have to be something from either Like Water for Chocolate or Chocolat. I’m a sucker that way. And also pretty much any food scene from Ang Lee’s early films.
Favorite food lyrics: “Chicken, Gravy and Biscuits” by Little Ed and the Blues Imperials
Best food smell memory: Bread baking in my grandma and great-grandma’s kitchen. We’d cut hot slices, lather on the butter and then sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar from a little shaker kept around just for that purpose.
Favorite summer snack: Tomatoes and cantaloupes, both hot from the garden. Cucumber with vinegar. Peaches.
Food that reminds me of the ocean: Extraordinarily fresh shrimp.
Favorite winter snack: Apples. Or else sharp cheese and good olives.
Most likely to eat for lunch: Sandwiches of varying quality.
Least likely to eat for lunch: Something healthy and good, like fresh salads or homemade soups.
Makes me gag: Anything that retains its head. My food should not look at me.
Food tradition I love: Pretty much any holiday meal, particularly the winter ones.
Food tradition I loathe: S’mores. Other marshmallow-related concoctions.
Favorite wild foods: Muscadines, and (as Michelle reminded me) honeysuckle, which every Arkansas kid I know loved.
Favorite medicinal food: Teas. Especially green tea with citrus. Also yogurt.
Food that reflects my heritage: Cornbread. Greens. Black-eyed peas. Okra. Red beans and rice. Sweet potato pudding. Muscadine jelly. Sweet Tea.
Food most like me: Mister Boyfriend would probably say dark chocolate. I have no idea.
Favorite raw food smell: Just about any produce. Especially oranges, potatoes, tomatoes.
Update: Anne’s playing Fried Neckbones and Some Home Fries and Sweet Tater Pie today.

OY. When the food is lookin back at you . . .. .
Mmmm! You’re making me very hungry.
I used to eat honeysuckle too! That careful pulling out of the stamen (?) to get that little drop of honey…I wish I had some right now.
