Friday was my birthday - and a lovely one it was. I refused to do anything constructive, and instead sat around and ate pizza, watched Cramps videos, and drank margaritas. And received some very fine gifts. (Not necessarily in that order.)

In the midst of this hedonism, I did manage to think about how many ways my life has changed for the better since the last birthday. I left my corporate job and moved to academia full-time, which has so far proved to be absolutely the right choice. All of my immediate family is living under the same roof for the first time in forever. I'm halfway through a master's degree. I have excellent friends. And I have a relationship that is a consistent source of joy.

And now I have a blog that is back up, after three days of server problems. Life is pretty damn good, though it scares me to say so. I can be rather superstitious, and don't want to jinx things. So I will also complain that I have both a proposal and a presentation due on Wednesday, neither of which I have written, and I have another presentation due the next Monday on a book I have not read. Best stop blogging and get to work.
