Leave home, turn left. Go to bank. Get on freeway. Through Little Rock, past Pine Bluff, almost to Star City. Take the small highway for a long way. Proceed through: Lake Village, Eudora, Transylvania, Alsatia, Tallulah, past Bloomy Shade Missionary Baptist Church. Don't take the turn to Moscow. Shop for shoes in Vicksburg. Skip the exit to Yazoo City, it goes the wrong way. Then to Jackson, and turn south again. Osyka. Thomastown. Ponchatoula. Stop at Metairie, before you end up on the road to Houma. Follow the parkway all the way to godmother's house.

What will I do without all these wonderful and odd Southern place names when I move next year?
